Watercolor Silhouettes

Swedish fashion illustrator Amelie Hegardt creates compelling, unique and powerful works of fashion on canvas with watercolor. Seriously beautiful in my opinion.

Thinking Pink

I am getting ready to move into a new condo is just a few weeks and can't stop thinking about what color I want to paint my new room. Lately I have been feeling the color pink, especially since I feel like this is probably the last time I can get away with a girly pink room. Anyways, as I have currently been inspired by pink, I have searched the web looking for further ideas and inspirations. So here are just a few (extremely random) things I have found to help myself think pink. Enjoy!

Colorful Oswald Sofa

Who said all couches have to be one color and boring. Well not any more. I'm currently in love with this Oswald sofa. I just don't know how I would decorate the rest of the room.

Hair Feathers Into Earings

If you're like me, you recently fell into the craze of hair feather extensions. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, they are skinny and often colorful pheasant feathers pinned into your hair. I personally had two, both were shades of purple and one a had a yellow feather. When in your hair, you can wash them, style them, and basically do whatever to them without worry. After having mine for about two month I decided to take them out leaving me with a few feather that I still found pretty. As I tried to figure what else I could do with them, I decided to make earrings out of them. Warning: they do not match, but I kinda like that. In fact, I mostly only wear one at a time, with a stud or hoop in the other ear. Anyways, here's what I did:

What you will need:
Your feathers obviously (bundle however many you want on each earring)
Super glue
Jewelry connector clamps (they look like these)
Earrings
Pliers

What to do:
It is best to glue the tip of the feathers with your super glue. The slightest dab of glue will work. As the the glue is still tacky, place the tips of your feathers in/on your connector clams. Take your pliers and clamp shut the connectors. Make sure to close it tightly so the feather don't fall out. In case any glue seeps out, make sure to wait until it is thoroughly dry before hooking the earring onto the clamped feathers.

Extra:
I thought about, but obviously did not do, but another cute addition to the feathers would be to add a long skinny chain to add more texture or shine.

Yellow Nail Polish

Not too long ago I hassled my sister for buying yellow nail polish. Well, two months later I bit the bullet and bought some yellow polish (although I haven't told my sister yet). Anyways, I just finished painting my nails and I'm not fully convinced, although I do like it on other people. Take a look.

Bedazzled Shoes: Part Two

Yes, after completing my previous pair of rhinestone bedazzled pumps, I knew I had to make other ones in multicolored rhinestones. So, without further adieu, enjoy.

To complete this sparkling project, I bought some regular pumps for extremely cheap at Ross. Yes people, Ross is the best place to buy shoes when you plan on redecorating. I think these basic black heals were just $14. From there, I bought a huge bad multicolored rhinestones, and I still have tons left over. With my endless supply of rhinestones, I got to gluing with my hot glue gun. This project took some time, but it was well worth it as everyone loved them immensely.

Watermelon Jello Shots

I've seen this idea of making jello shots in citrus rinds, but this idea of making them look like mini-watermelons, I just had to share it. This idea is perfect for a BBQ or any summertime party. Not to mention, everyone will not only love the way they look, but they taste great!
What you will need:
  • 10 limes, pulp removed
  • 1 box red Jello (Watermelon flavor is obviously preferred but strawberry, raspberry, or even cherry will work. Any red jello will work really.)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold vodka (Again, if you have melon flavored, go for it)
  • Mini chocolate chips (Or black sprinkles will work too)
What to do:
- Halve limes and use a paring knife around the edges of the halves to loosen the pulp from the rind. Remove all citrus from rind, using a spoon works well. Side note: save all the lime citrus and make juice with it or add to homemade guacamole.
- In a sauce pan, boil 1 cup of water. Add jello powder, and stir for 2 minutes until fully dissolved.
- Stir in cup of cold vodka. If you're on a budget, the cheaper the better.
- Pour mixture into lime halves, filling all the way to the top. It is easier to place halved limes in a muffin tin so they down roll around and run away on you.
- Chill Jello-limes in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully cut each lime half in half again, making wedges.
- Stick in chocolate chips, if desired.

Recipe yields 40 servings.

French Manicure Rendition Take Two

Just wanted to share another take on a french manicure nail design. I used the same method as in a previous post of mine. Still using paper reinforces, I first painted a white base coat then once dry, stuck on my round stickers then painted on the green. Again, wait till final coat (green) is fully dry before removing stickers, and pull up towards tip of nail when removing. Enjoy!
